Cajun Invasion has been formed for the express purpose of providing support, education and awareness regarding the prevention and treatment of cancer, with an emphasis on breast cancer, to all victims and to the general public in the state of Louisiana. The organization will promote the need for early detection, physical exercise, nutrition information and counseling in an effort to offset the impact of a cancer diagnosis and the negative effects of treatment. Cajun Invasion will provide encouragement to those living with the disease of cancer, honor the memory of those who are deceased and empower all people regardless of age, race or gender to live life fully after their diagnosis. This will be accomplished through the national and international amateur sports competition of Dragon Boat Racing. Scientific research discovered that women who were treated for breast cancer did not increase their risk level of lymph edema from repetitive upper body exercise. Clinical trials have also suggested that cancer patients may benefit from physical exercise both during and after treatment. Additionally, Cajun Invasion will provide assistance and/or contributions to persons unable to afford diagnostic testing or treatment and will cooperate with other community agencies and cancer centers throughout the state of Louisiana serving those in need. Cajun Invasion will be operated exclusively for charitable purposes which consist of the aforesaid support, education, awareness and sports participation and will include, if necessary, the distribution of funds.
